Bob BowmanRobert Bowman President & CEO, Major League Baseball Advanced Media LP

Bob Bowman joined Major League Baseball Advanced Media LP (MLBAM), the interactive media and Internet company of Major League Baseball, in 2000 following 3 years of work in the Internet space. MLBAM was created in June 2000 when the owners of the 30 professional baseball teams voted to centralize all of Baseball’s Internet operations under one roof. MLBAM operates the official League site, www.MLB.com, as well as each of the 30 individual team sites. 

Prior to joining MLBAM, Bowman was President and COO of ITT Corporation one of the world’s largest and pre-eminent conglomerates. During his tenure, Bowman and the senior management team at ITT created more than $25 billion of value for the company’s shareholders.
 
Before joining ITT he served as Treasurer for the State of Michigan from 1983 to 1991. During his eight year term he grew the State’s pension system from $6 billion to $19 billion in asset value.
 
Prior to his appointment in Michigan, Bowman also worked as an investment banker with Goldman Sachs & Company, and from 1979 to 1981 he served in the US Department of the Treasury as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Domestic Finance.
 
Mr. Bowman graduated from Harvard College and received his M.B.A. from The Wharton School. He serves as President of the Michigan Education Trust and is a member of the Board of Directors of Blockbuster, Inc., Take-Two Interactive Corp. and Warnaco Corp.
 

 

John EckJohn Eck President, NBC Network and Media Works

John Eck was named President, NBC Network and Media Works in July 2007. This appointment added executive oversight of NBC Affiliate Relations and NBC Network Operations to his portfolio of responsibilities. Eck continues his executive leadership over information technology and studio operations across NBC Universal’s extensive television networks, owned stations, and digital media properties. He also has executive responsibility for the company’s film and TV production and post-production operations. Eck reports directly to Jeff Zucker, President and Chief Executive Officer of NBC Universal.
 
 
Before this, Eck had served as president of Media Works and chief information officer of NBC Universal since July 2005. In addition to overseeing the formation of Media Works, Eck created the Technology Growth Center, its Content Protection and Policy efforts, and the company's research and development activities in conjunction with GE’s Global Research Center. Prior to this, Eck was president of Television and Studio Operations. He also oversaw the integration efforts of NBC Universal.
 
Eck had served as president of NBC Broadcast & Network Operations since July 1998. Eck's previous assignments include serving as senior vice president and quality leader, and chief financial officer for NBC International and Business Development. In this role, he was instrumental in the structuring of NBC's joint venture with Microsoft, which created MSNBC and MSNBC.com, and in the combination of CNBC and Dow Jones.
 
Before joining NBC, he held various financial positions with GE. Eck graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business from Indiana University, where he currently serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council.
 

 

Michael Clifford, Chairman, SignificantFederations, LLC

Dr. Clifford is the Chairman and Founder of SignificantFederation LLC, a leading higher-education holding company. SignificantFederation provides esteemed but troubled higher education institutions with necessary academic, financial, marketing, technological and human capital resources. As Chairman, he has helped turnaround six accredited institutions, including publicly-held Bridgepoint Education (NYSE: BPI) and Grand Canyon University (Nasdaq: LOPE).
 
Clifford currently serves as the Chairman Emeritus at Grand Canyon University (GCU). In late 2003, Grand Canyon was on the brink of closing. Dr. Clifford quickly formed a group to acquire the school, recruited a team of higher education specialists and quickly refocused its educational and marketing offerings. As a result GCU became the first regionally accredited non profit university to convert to for-profit status in US history. Enrollment has grown steadily to more than 37,000 students as of 12/31/09 up from 1,000 at the time of acquisition.
 
Approximately $40MM invested created approximately $1.2B in value over five years.
 
In 2004 Dr. Clifford founded the predecessor of Bridgepoint Education, TeleUniversity. As of 12/31/09, Bridgepoint's enrollment stood at nearly 54,000 students up from <1,000 at the time of acquisition. Approximately $30MM invested created approximately $1.3B in value over five years.
 
Dr. Clifford is replicating his turnaround expertise in higher education to several other opportunities, including Chancellor University (which offers the Jack Welch Management Institute), Crichton College ( 61 year old Christian-focused school), InterAmerican College (Hispanic serving Nursing and Teacher Education), and LA College (allied health care provider). Clifford is yet again pioneering new private/public partnerships in harmony with the regulators. 
 

 

Scott Ferber, Founder,Chairman and CEO, Tidal TV

 

Scott Ferber has spent his career utilizing mathematics and data analysis to build profitable businesses and products. His most notable success was founding Advertising.com in 1998, which was eventually sold to AOL in 2004 for nearly half a billion dollars. In his role as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ferber was responsible for the company’s stellar operating performance, strategic vision and continued development of its award-winning, proprietary optimization technology.
 
Prior to Advertising.com, Ferber held roles at Fortune 500 companies such as Procter & Gamble, where he developed computer systems and mathematical models to create business practices for plant production and raw material procurement, and Capital One Financial Corporation, where he leveraged statistical approaches to marketing and financial risk management to develop new businesses outside of the credit card industry.
 
Due to his outstanding accomplishments, Ferber has received numerous awards including Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2000, CEO of the Year by Blue Chip Venture Company, the American Business Award’s “Stevie” for Best Executive in 2005, the Outstanding Young Engineering Graduate Award 2006 from the University of Virginia, and was named an Influential Marylander by The Daily Record in 2009.
 
Ferber graduate summa cum laude with a B.S. degree from the University of Virginia, Dept of Systems Engineering in 1991, and a M.S. from the Stanford University, Dept of Engineering-Economic Systems in 1992.
 

 

 

Kristin Lovejoy, Vice President, Security Strategy, IBM

Kristin Lovejoy joined IBM in February 2007 as part of the leadership team which was retained after IBM’s acquisition of Consul risk management, a leader in compliance management solution development and delivery. Today, she is the Vice President responsible for IBM's Security Strategy. While at Consul, Ms. Lovejoy was the CTO, CIO and VP of Support and Services. Prior to Consul, she was the Vice President of Security Assurance Services at TruSecure Corporation. She was recognized as one of the Top 25 CTOs by InfoWorld in 2005 and as Top 25 Most Influential Security Executives by Security Magazine in 2006. She holds a U.S. and EU patents for Object Oriented Risk Management Model and Methodology. 

 

Kenneth Minihan
Kenneth A. Minihan, Managing Director, Paladin Capital Group
 
Lieutenant General Ken Minihan retired from the U.S. Air Force on June 1, 1999, after more than 33 years of active commissioned service to the nation. On his final tour of duty he served as the 14th Director of the National Security Agency/Central Security Service, a combat support agency of the Department of Defense with military and civilian personnel stationed worldwide. As Director, he was the senior uniformed intelligence officer in the Department of Defense. He has also served as the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency. He has over thirty years experience in national, defense and military information services, information technology development and diverse customer support services.
 
Minihan has vast experience in large complex global and national information operations, information technology deployment, and customer requirement satisfaction. While the Director of NSA, he helped conceive and provide strategic direction to the National Information Assurance Program. He also created strategic approaches and development concepts for emerging telecommunications technology while redesigning core business skills and efficient operations.
 
He organized and executed multinational global operations for information services and implemented core business metrics and a strong commitment to teamwork. He led NSA to recognition as a Baldridge and Presidential Quality Award finalist.
 
Minihan has a Baccalaureate Degree from Florida State University, a Masters Degree from the Naval Postgraduate School, and has completed executive development programs at the University of Illinois and Harvard University. Among his awards and decorations are the National Security Medal, the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, the Bronze Star, and the National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal.
 

 

James Mobley James Mobley, President& CEO, Neohapsis, Inc.
 

James Mobley is a proven corporate and early stage executive with over 25 years of experience in the technology industry. He is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of Neohapsis Inc, a provider of risk management and security software and services solutions for global 2000 companies and Federal agencies. He has a long history of working with leading enterprises in their efforts to mitigate security risks. Mobley was the President and Chief Executive Officer of @stake, Inc., an international security consulting and products company that was acquired by Symantec (SYMC) Corporation in October 2004. Post acquisition, he led Symantec's Professional Services organization as Vice President, Americas.
 
Other prior experience includes President and CEO of Intrusic Corporation, an early stage pioneer of internal threat software, Corporate Vice President of Compaq’s (HP) $1 billion North America Professional Services sales organization, Vice President & General Manager of Digital’s (HP) $400 million Southeast Region and Business Unit Executive of IBM's (IBM) $200 million D/FW operating unit.
 
Mobley is a graduate of the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University.
 

 

Martin Nisenholtz, Senior Vice President, Digital Operations, The New York Times Company
 

 

Martin Nisenholtz was named senior vice president, digital operations for The New York Times Company in February 2005. He is responsible for the strategy development, operations and management of The New York Times Company’s digital properties, including About.com.
 
Mr. Nisenholtz was chief executive officer of New York Times Digital from 1999 to 2005. Previously, he was president of The New York Times Electronic Media Company from 1995 to 1999. In that role, he was the founding leader at NYTimes.com.
 
Prior to joining the Times Company, Mr. Nisenholtz was director of content strategy for Ameritech Corporation, where he was responsible for guiding development of new video programming opportunities and interactive information and advertising services. From 1983 to 1994, Mr. Nisenholtz worked at The Ogilvy Group, where he was a senior vice president and member of the operating committee at Ogilvy & Mather Direct. In 1983 he founded the Interactive Marketing Group (IMG), the first full service unit at a major U.S. advertising agency devoted specifically to interactive communication.
 
Mr. Nisenholtz began his career in 1979 as an assistant professor and research scientist at New York University, where he participated on the founding faculty of the Interactive Telecommunications Program and worked on pioneering interactive media efforts in the areas of education, healthcare and public information. Mr. Nisenholtz received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1977 and a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania Annenberg School of Communication in 1979.
 

 

 Ron Packard, Founder and CEO, K12, Inc.

Ron Packard is the CEO and Founder of K12 Inc. (NYSE: LRN), a technology-based education company. K12 is the nation’s leading provider of proprietary curriculum and online education programs to students in grades K-12. K12 provides its curriculum and academic services to online schools, traditional classrooms, blended school programs, and directly to families. 

K12’s mission is to maximize a child’s potential by providing access to an engaging and effective education, regardless of geographic location or socio-economic background.
 
Packard was previously a vice president of Knowledge Universe, and CEO of Knowledge Schools, which provides high-quality childhood education in community and employer-sponsored centers, and invests in, incubates, and operates several charter school companies. Previously, he worked for McKinsey & Company as well as for Goldman Sachs in mergers and acquisitions. Packard was the 2007 recipient of the Education Industry Association’s James P. Boyle Entrepreneurial Leadership Award, bestowed to individuals whose achievements in the for-profit education industry serve as a guidepost for others starting and building entrepreneurial education endeavors. In 2008, he won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the IT Services & Solutions category in Greater Washington for his outstanding leadership in building and leading dynamic and growing business.
 
Packard holds a B.A. in Economics and Mechanical Engineering with honors from the University of California at Berkeley. He holds an M.B.A. with honors from the University of Chicago and he is a chartered financial analyst.



Deborah PlunkettDebora Plunkett, Director of the Information Assurance Directorate (IAD), NSA

 
Debora Plunkett serves as Director of the Information Assurance Directorate (IAD) at the National Security Agency. On behalf of the Director, NSA, the IAD is the focal point for cyber security, cryptography, and information systems security for all national security systems. Specific responsibilities developing and deploying IA capabilities, research and development activities to generate IA techniques and solutions, ensuring the availability of IA products and solutions, and understanding the threat to and vulnerability of national security systems.

In addition to previously serving as the Deputy Director of IAD, Plunkett also served as Assistant Deputy Director for Customer Relationships in the SIGINT Directorate. She was responsible for determining SIGINT dissemination policy and practices, and ensuring mechanisms were in place to promote the widest possible distribution of NSA products while enabling the protection of sensitive sources and methods.

From 2000 – 2001, Plunkett served as a Director on the National Security Council at the White House. In this capacity, she assisted in the development and coordination of national policy on critical infrastructure protection and cyber security issues.
In 2007, Plunkett was awarded the rank of Meritorious Executive in the Senior Cryptologic Executive Service by the President of the United States.
 
Plunkett graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1999 she was awarded an MBA from Johns Hopkins University. She is a graduate of the National War College. Plunkett completed the Executive Development Seminar, the IC EXCEL Seminar, and the DNI Intelligence Fellows Program, and the Harvard Law School program in conflict management and negotiations.
